WHAT IS IT?
Becoming a "student" isn't an easy transition. There are many routines, procedures, and skills that children are required to learn within the first few days of school and it can be overwhelming.
In our 5-day summer camp, we will create a "mini-classroom" experience where 10 "students-in-training" will have a sneak preview of what it's like to be in Kindergarten!
Led by a teacher certified in Early Childhood Education, your child will learn the necessary skills needed to be successful from their first step into the classroom.
WHAT WE'LL LEARN
Not only will we be experimenting with Kindergarten curriculum, but the students will also be exposed to the routines and procedures that are common in the classroom. The skills that will be the focus of our week are broken down into 6 important categories:
By the end of this camp, your child will know what is expected when they walk into school on the first day, taking away some of the stress and anxiety out of this transition.
WHO CAN JOIN?
There are 10 spots available for our Kindergarten Camp. Children must be 4-5 years old in order to qualify. Your child must also be potty-independent (able to use the restroom with minimal support).
WHERE AND WHEN?
The camp will take place from Monday, July 18 - Friday, July 22 from 8:30 am - 11:30 am.
The camp will be held at a facility off of Watson Rd. in Affton. For the safety of the children and staff, the location will be disclosed at registration after your child is selected.
PRICING & FEES
The "tuition" for this camp is $295 per child for the week. You must be able to attend all 5 days unless there is a special circumstance pre-approved by leaders. Must pay $100 deposit at registration and initial acceptance, and pay the remaining $195 on or before July 15th.
My name is Kristina Kinslow and I have been an educator for 9 years. I have taught full-day and half-day preschool, Kindergarten, and first grade. I have a one year old son, as well as a rambunctious 3 year-old golden doodle and have recently decided to stay home with them. I understand the desire to provide the best possible learning opportunities for your child, which is why I am so excited to be working with Teachers as Tutors. My passion is providing fun, safe, and play-based learning opportunities for young learners that help them feel successful, capable, and excited to learn. I firmly believe that if children feel supported and excited to learn, they will absorb and retain new skills at much higher capacities. My activities incorporate fine motor strengthening, skill development, movement, and cooperative learning with others as much as possible. I look forward to the opportunity to helping your child love learning and to reach their fullest potential!
Don't worry, we're excited as you are!

The big day may have come and gone, but keep in touch as we’re always up to something new and exciting.

Items that your child should bring every day:
You are welcome to sign up more than one child if they both fit the age requirements. We want to make sure that we extend the invitation to families with children entering Kindergarten in the Fall. If you are unsure if your child qualifies, please reach out to us and we can discuss next steps.
If someone other than the person who registered is picking up/dropping off your child, you MUST include them as an emergency contact. There is a spot on the sign-in sheet to designate someone else to pick up your child, and we will match IDs with the sign-in sheet to make sure the correct person is picking up that child.
