About the Company
Teachers As Tutors is a St. Louis based small-business that contracts licensed teachers and connects them with families in need of educational support. Based on the unique needs of the child, we match the student with one of our qualified tutors based on expertise, availability, location, and specialty.
The effects of virtual learning created a huge educational disparity in our community. Families have expressed concerns about their child's academic progress, especially in important content areas such as reading and math. With test scores at an all time low, we want families to know they aren't in this battle alone.
Teachers As Tutors can accommodate most ages and content areas, ranging anywhere from pre-k to select college courses. ACT prep courses are available for an additional fee. If you have questions, please send an inquiry on the "Contact Us" page and someone will reach out to you shortly.
About the Owner
Teachers As Tutors is owned by former teacher Hannah Church - a St. Louis native and resident.
Hannah graduated from the University of Missouri - Columbia with a B.S. Elementary Education 1-6, a minor in Human Development and Family Studies, a minor in Business, and a Multicultural certification. She student taught in 1st grade before receiving a position as a reading interventions for grades 3-6. After her time teaching struggling readers, she accepted a position teaching 6th grade math and science before leaving the classroom in 2019.
After noticing the effect of virtual learning on students' academic progress in her community, she wanted to use her background in education to help close this gap between student achievement and grade-level expectations. Since she has a large network of teachers, she thought they would be the best option for helping the students catch up. In June 2021, she opened her business Teachers As Tutors to connect those teachers with families needing support.
Since the onset of her business, she has partnered with families, schools, and other organizations to aid student learning. She hopes to expand her business to cover more than just the St. Louis area, helping families all across Missouri.
